Sing-In Boulder's LP Albums in Re-Release on CD for Charitable Causes

Sing-In Boulder was the performing group of the Boulder High School
Folk Song Club, a school-sanctioned after-school activity that performed and
recorded folk and popular music in the late 1960's and early 1970s. It was
founded and originally sponsored by Bill Cline, a foreign language teacher
at Boulder High School in Boulder, Colorado. Mr. Cline took leave from
teaching at Boulder High in 1969 to take a position at Swarthmore College,
after which history teacher and popular coach Phil Cohen took over as
Sing-In's sponsor. Coach Cohen, unfortunately, went over to the dark side
the following year, to cross-town rival Fairview High. Mr. Cline returned to
his students and friends at Boulder High and resumed his role as sponsor of
Sing-In for the final two years of the program, as well as to teaching at
the University of Colorado. He would later lose his battle with complications
of an infection and a childhood bout with rheumatic fevor, leaving a special place
in our hearts for those of us who cherished his friendship, his leadership,
and his music.
The four Sing-In Boulder LP albums were produced by biologist and educational film maker Dr. Oakleigh Thorne II, under his Owl Records label. Dr. Thorne, better know to many of us as Oak, has generously endorsed and granted permission to reproduce the albums as CDs for the purpose of encouraging donations to charitable organizations operating as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. > During the Sing-In days Dr. Thorne lived in a house across Boulder Creek from Boulder High, and shared his friendship and passion for music with Mr. Cline and many of us at Boulder High. Dr. Thorne is the Founder and Honorary President of the Thorne Nature Experience (formerly the Thorne Ecological Institute) in Boulder. Dr. Thorne is also a member of the Advisory Board of the American Music Research Center, operated in conjunction with the University of Colorado School of Music. Please consider making a donation to one of the charities listed here. You may qualify and receive one or more of the Sing-In Boulder CD albums as a free gift. See the "Donate" page for more information.
